To run a successful, vibrant, satisfying interior design business it’s important to have new clients and/or projects coming in on a regular basis. Social networking can help you get those clients and grow your interior design business, even today.

If you’ve been using social media marketing to promote your interior design business and still aren’t getting the response you’d like, something’s wrong. By following a few simple steps you can get better results from your efforts. Below I’ve listed some important tips to help you with your social media marketing efforts.

1. Find forums. Start networking consistently in forums where your ideal client hangs out. You’ll be able to make online connections with interested prospects there. So, if you are hanging out in a forum about “American Idol” for instance, then you may not be in a good spot to find clients there.

2. Keep at it. Block out your schedule so you can spend some time on the social networking sites on a daily basis. If you network only when you need new clients, it takes much longer. You need to network daily and build your relationships in order to raise your online visibility and eventually convert people to clients.

3. Provide value. Be careful not to over promote your products and services. You’ll want to establish a healthy balance and provide valuable information about your interior design business and the services you provide. If you’re anything like me, you’ll feel a bit odd talking so much about yourself, but you have to remember that your readers are mixing your messages in with the hundreds of other messages they receive on a daily basis.

Bonus tip – be sure to include a custom signature after every message you post in the forum. It absolutely must contain information about your interior design business, your specialty and a link back to your website.
